This tense day is bringing out the best in some bloggers

There are a lot of blogs out there that rehash what other folks have written, and much of the time every blog is in the "Quote and Comment" mode. The run-up to this election has brought out the writer in many bloggers, and there is plentry of great opinion and commentary out there to read. I found a couple surfing through BlogExplosion. Robert at Let's Try Freedom has taken a pledge, to respect the result of the election even if it is a disapointment and to work to strengthen our democratic institutions. We should all join him in this pledge. The correct response to a lousy president is not to become a lousy opposition. The best way to counter low-blow political manuevers is not to "get even" and become resort to low-blow tactics. If you don't like the President or the way a party is behaving become better than them; be above the petty sniping and show your respect for our venerable institutions. If the blogging world has demonstrated proper respect for the truth vis-avis the MSM, then we can also demonstrate proper respect for our country and its democracy.

The other post is at MaxedOut Mama, who is also concerned that we remember what patriotism is and what a chance to vote in an important election really means, and what it really costs. Take the time to read all of this long and heartfelt post. This sort of personal testimonial is what is best about the blog world.
